About
excesssoils.ca is an independent, free explorer of Ontario's excess-soil system, built and maintained by a practising environmental engineer. It exists because the public data is scattered across three systems that don't reference each other, and because the January 2027 landfill restriction makes understanding the receiving network urgent for everyone who moves soil.
Independence
This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Resource Productivity and Recovery Authority (RPRA), the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks, or any operator shown. It is an analysis of public records. The authoritative sources are always the registry and the approval instruments themselves — links to originals are provided throughout.
Data and corrections
Volumes are proponent estimates from registry filings; capacities are read from approval documents by rules and reviewed by hand. Errors are possible and corrections are welcome — if a site you know is wrong here, use the contact below and it will be fixed in the next build.
Privacy
The site publishes no personal information: contact names, emails, phone numbers and mailing addresses present in registry filings are stripped before any data reaches this site, and every build is automatically screened. The newsletter stores only your email address, double-opt-in, unsubscribe any time, never shared.
Registry data attribution (required by RPRA's terms of use)
The source of the information is http://www.rpra.ca. The use of this information by excesssoils.ca is done without any affiliation with or endorsement by the Authority. Reliance upon excesssoils.ca's use of this information is at the risk of the end user.
Registry information on this site is used for public, non-commercial and educational purposes. Registry fields are reproduced unmodified; analysis layers (capacity figures, operator groupings, regional rollups, matching) are this site's own derivations from Environmental Compliance Approval instruments and are labelled as such. Exercise due diligence: verify against the registry and the approval documents before relying on any figure.
